Biden Administration Extends Rental Eviction and Foreclosure Moratoria

On June 24th the Biden Administration extended the following Covid-19 programs to July 31, 2021:

  • CDC Rental Eviction Moratorium
  • FHFA Foreclosure Moratorium (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac)
  • HUD, VA and USDA Foreclosure Moratorium

In addition, homeowners with HUD, VA or USDA loans who have not already taken advantage of forbearance may to do through September 30, 2021. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac borrowers can also apply for forbearance.

The administration is anticipating additional loan modification programs after July 30th for distressed homeowners.

The CDC eviction moratorium has been ruled unlawful by three courts thus far and there is a Supreme Court case pending. NAR has released updated information as well.
