WeSERV has advocated to MAG (Maricopa Association of Governments) and indicated to cities our support of expanding the I-10 corridor between Chandler and Casa Grande.

Many of our members traverse this corridor several times a week or even several times a day. As those of us know who travel that section of I-10, it is 2 lanes of fast moving truck and auto traffic. If there is an accident it is usually a bad accident with injuries and sometimes death. When the freeway in this area is shut down it can be for several hours with limited ability to re-route traffic.

For several years members and our association have advocated a widening of this stretch of I-10 for safety and commerce reasons. MAG has this section on its regional planning maps as does ADOT, and the Governor signed the Arizona funding legislation.

The Federal Government opened a MEGA grant for transportation projects such as the I-10 widening with a very short window for application. WeSERV sent a letter to U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Buttigieg letting him know our support of the project.

Read the WeSERV letter and let Secretary Buttigieg know your thoughts.
