Local funding from the American Rescue Plan, Local city updates, SB 1377, and GAD events

How much money is your City or Town getting from the recently passed American Rescue Plan, and how will they spend it? On March 11th HR 1319, the American Rescue Plan became law. While the media billed it as a COVID-19 relief package, most of the almost $2 Trillion of funding goes to items other than COVID-19. You can read the bill at www.weservgad.org. SB 1377 – In April, the Arizona State Legislature passed and the Governor signed SB 1377 which limits the liability of businesses and other service providers. You can read the bill and see the sponsors of this bill at www.weservgad.org.

Affordable Housing: In mid-April I did a quick survey of communities in the WeSERV area who were addressing Affordable and Workforce housing in the first quarter of 2021. You can see a list of these cities and towns, along with links to their various programs and discussions at www.weservgad.org.

Chandler: Our Southeast Valley Chapter Government Affairs committee hosted a conversation with Chandler Acting City Manager Josh Wright at their committee meeting. Josh spoke to us about Chandler’s Strategic Framework, managing city budgets and projections, along with projects. He also discussed the upcoming proposed bond issues.
