Luke AFB Targeted Growth Plan, Surprise Luke AFB Map, Pinal’s North/South Corridor and GAD Events

MAG’s Luke Air Force Base Targeted Growth Plan – On Tuesday, September 17th, WeMAR members John Kodlick and Jay Otlewski, and I joined cities, educators, economic development experts and Luke Air Force Base representatives to review the information already gathered for the Luke Air Force Base Targeted Growth Plan.

The purpose of this study is to provide information to F-35 pilots and other Luke Air Force Base personnel on opportunities for housing, education, child care, recreation, jobs, business and amenities here in the West Valley.

There was one category lacking in information though, private post-secondary education in the West Valley. If you, your clients and friends know of a private post-secondary education program, please let me know by September 27th so that I can submit those provider’s information. Real Estate Schools, Business schools, welding schools, Refrigeration, heating, electrical, plumbing, paralegal, Physician’s Assistant, computer security, commercial truck driving, EMT/paramedic, Certified Nursing assistants, construction management, dentist , veterinary, physician, nurse, and so many more professions require education and that education can be obtained at a privately-run school or university. Email me the names of private education facilities in your community or the West Valley communities you do business in.

The Surprise Luke Air Force Base Map Ordinance – Also on September 17th, WeMAR presented our long-time concerns regarding the Surprise ordinance requiring REALTORS° to carry the Surprise Luke Air Force Notification Map with them at all times. WeMAR members, Rae Goepfert, Bill Gaddis and Jackie Martin joined me at the Surprise City Council meeting.

You can read my comments and watch your fellow members present to the City Council at www.weservgad.org. WeMAR asked the Council to repeal this ordinance.

Pinal County Highway Update – The North/South Corridor:
The public comment period is now open for those who wish to let ADOT know their preference for the proposed North-South Corridor extending from Apache Junction to I-10 at Eloy. The study also includes the extension of State Route 24.

To read the study and more information online, find dates of the public hearings and find the libraries with the documents for review, go to www.weservgad.org.

GAD Events – We have two GAD events left in 2019, so please join us for Visit with Legislators here at WeMAR on September 24th from 9am to 12 noon and our last Government Affairs Advisory Council meeting on October 22nd from 10am to 1pm.
