Luke Air Force Base Strategic Growth Initiative – How WeSERV is Addressing the Housing Needs of Luke Personnel and You Can Too!

With Luke Air Force Base bringing in about 2300 new personnel to the base in the next six years as their mission to train new F-35 pilots expands, those personnel will also be bringing with them their families.

Currently, Luke Air Force Bases’ economic impact in our region is over $2.4 billion and with this expansion, the economic impact will be expanding.

As part of the MAG/Luke AFB Strategic Growth Plan, a new tool has been created to provide Luke personnel with information about the West Valley. The tool is called Mission Critical Luke AFB Community Asset Map. It is an interactive tool designed to help Luke personnel access information about all that West Valley has to offer including: workforce, transportation, education and recreation.

Here you and your clients can customize the map to show areas within a 20-minute commute time of Luke, the location of the Luke AFB Auxiliary Field in Surprise, the territory box for Luke AFB, Luke Auxiliary Field and the Gila Bend Field.

Also included is the ability to show the noise contour maps for Luke AFB, Luke Auxiliary Field and the Gila Bend Field. This map is interactive to the point that you or your client can zoom in on streets and neighborhoods with the noise contour overlay so clients can choose exactly where they wish to live based on this criterium.

Community amenities can also be found on this map such as bike trails, outdoor parks and recreation, dog parks, hiking trails, sports and entertainment facilities, cultural attractions, religious facilities and more.

In the Housing section, there is a heat map with color coded areas throughout West Valley illuminating the average housing price as of May 2020. Also, in this plan is the Housing Implementation Plan, which WeSERV is coordinating. We will be working with other housing stakeholders to provide resources and information to Luke personnel so that their choices in housing are easily identifiable. As part of this project, WeSERV created this video:

Read the Luke AFB Targeted Growth Management Plan to see how our West Valley communities will be working to assure Luke personnel have the education, infrastructure, housing and transportation they need to continue to work in our community and for our Nation. You can find the Housing Plan on pages 32-45.

The WeSERV Luke AFB Housing Task Force will be working on the items contained in the Housing Plan on pages 32-45. If you are a member of WeSERV and would like to be a part of this project, please let me know.
