A few weeks ago, Audra Thomas, Transportation Planner at MAG (Maricopa Association of Governments), joined us for our event Apache Junction, Queen Creek and Mesa: Imagine the Future.
During that discussion she brought us up to date on SR-24 and surrounding transportation planning.
Phase II of SR-24 has begun and is planned for completion in 2022. It includes five miles of new freeway from Ellsworth Rd to Ironwood Drive. This phase will be an interim buildout with final build out set for phase 5.
When completed there will be 2 lanes in each direction and intersections at Williams Field Rd, Signal Butte Rd, Meridian Rd, and Ironwood Dr. There will be bridges over Ellsworth and Mountain roads.
